Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, highly skilled, confident Graphics and Web Designer with an impeccable eye for layout and an obsessive attention to detail. The ideal candidate would take great pride in displaying a consistent level of quality, top-tier design that enables CENDIs to design host and manage dynamic websites for its clients. The incumbent will have the ability to create web applications and components from the requirements stage, through design to deployment. He or she will be required to have experience in graphics, layout, scripting, programming, as well as development involving compatibility and seamless integration with various technologies such as, but not limited to, Java, CMS, SQL, PHP and MySQL.

1.      Graphics Designer:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design and development of graphics layout for webpages and graphic elements of website interface using Adobe Photoshop;
  • Conceive ideas, concepts, and designs for CENDI’s clients;
  • Brainstorm, sketch out concept, mocks up design ideas for projects;
  • Meet with clients and adjusts designs to fit their needs or taste;
  • To use the latest computer technology and other appropriate mediums to  produce creative and innovative graphic design/artwork for use in the presentation of CENDI’s clients publications, promotional materials including posters, banners, brochures, annual reports, newsletters,  flyers, product packaging, and logo;
  • To continually develop skills in the latest desk top publishing, printing and  graphic design techniques, and apply these as necessary in order to maintain and enhance the increasing expectation and requirements of customers and fully use the potential of computer design packages and the skills of other  team members;
  • To establish and maintain a professional rapport with all CENDI’s customers, outside printers and other firms, over the production of material within the agreed deadlines, specification and budget for each job;
  • To assist in and undertake creative photographic work as required and
  • To evaluate and assess the technical capacity of printers to undertake specified printing and associated works such as binding and embossing etc.

2.      Website Designer:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Translate clients informational content into a dynamic functional website;
  • Website maintenance-updating pages, adding links, updating databases;
  • Create and editing images and graphics for website use;
  • Determine all coding requirements for site improvements;
  • Code website using HTML, GUI, or other appropriate web design tools and creating verbal content for the website;
  • Integrate verbal content with website design for final product;
  • Post completed website to internet server using appropriate software;
  • To build and develop high quality websites and ensure that they are browser compatible, SEO friendly particularly relating to four different kinds of search, including image search, local search, academic search, industry-specific vertical search engines;
  • Assisting CENDI’s clients to better engage with the their  customers, prospects and other target groups across a variety of social media platforms such as Face book, Twitter and LinkedIn;
  • Turns design and user interface mockups into functional websites powered by CMS;
  • To be fully responsible for the development, usability and testing of new and existing clients websites, ensuring that clients requirement and deadlines are met;
  • Populate Shopping Cart and PHP database work;
  • To liaise closely with a customer or client finding the answers to questions about why the site is needed, who the target audience will be, who the leading competitors are;
  • Advising the client on the categories and information architecture needed to construct the site;
  • Design visually impressive and effective web sites with easy access;
  • Advise client on categories and information required to construct the site;
  • Design and produce a draft site for clients approval and/or modification;
  • Create web pages in a combination of codes such as hypertext markup language (HTML),
  • JavaScript, CSS and Flash;
  • Design, produce and distribute documents such as clients annual report, newsletters etc and other documents relating to the web;
  • Test the functionality of different browsers at different resolutions for the web site and
  • Upload website onto the World Wide Web (internet)

Experience:

The candidates are expected to demonstrate direct substantial experience in:

Languages: HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, .NET, CSS, PHP, SQL, and others

Software: Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator and others

Operating Systems: Windows, UNIX, Macintosh and others

Browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chromeand others

  • Experience with designing, adapting and implementing databases and programs is required;
  • Familiarity with networking and application distribution and system documentation;
  • Strong MS SQL server skills and experience in migration from MS Access to MS SQL server;
  • Strong in MS SQL server database ,stored procedures/triggers and database development;
  •  Cope with workload pressure and deadlines; and work in a results-based environment.
  • Demonstrates creative, technical and analytical skills;
  • Solid understanding of navigation and SEO;
  • Experience in structured relational database as well as in application server;
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience in graphics and Web Designer, database programming, analysis and application server administration;
  • Understanding of branding, concept development, package design, advertising, promotions, direct Marketing, web marketing, social marketing,
  • Attention to aesthetics, detail and a strong understanding of “layout” an absolute must.
  • Software Requirements: Advanced applied knowledge in recent versions of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw, Flash and other creative suite products;
  • Proficiency in Dreamweaver and HTML/CSS skills are a huge asset;
  • Knowledge of printing including types of paper, page sizes and color mixes
  • Experience and understanding of site architecture, user experience, color theory and color management on the web, proper file formats, compression methods and techniques,
  • Expertise in current internet standards, including web browsers and browser specifications.
