Laud Anthony Basing is a Scientist, Entrepreneur and Youth Advocate.
He is the Managing Director of Incas Diagnostics Services Limited, a company that aims to develop low-cost diagnostic test kits for Africa and Executive Director of the Incas Impact Foundation, a youth mentorship foundation. Incas Diagnostics was adjudged the Health start-up of the year in the 2016 Ghana start-up awards.
He is a medical researcher with several years of research experience with international collaborations. He worked with the University of Liverpool and researchers from 13 countries from 2009 to 2013 on a project on the effect of climate change on Health outcomes. His research findings have been presented in conferences in Nigeria, Mali, Spain, South Africa and the United States. He is currently working on a World Health Organization sponsored project on Yaws in Ghana.
He is a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow in the Business and Entrepreneurship track at Purdue University in the United States and currently, the Chairman of the Linkages Committee of the West and Central African Regional Advisory Board for the Fellowship. He is a member of American Society for Microbiology’s Young Leaders Circle, a prestigious group of young scientists who offer advice to the Global Board of the Society and he is its Young Ambassador to Ghana. He is also an executive member of the Ghana Association of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists, a board member of Guzakuza, a firm aimed at encouraging young people to see Agric as a business. He is the president of the Young African Leaders Network-Ghana and a member of the Alliance for Young entrepreneurs Ghana.
He is passionate about young people and mentorship and so with funding from the American society for microbiology, He has organized mentorship forums in 6 public universities across the country. He has regular health talks especially on sexually transmitted diseases in senior high schools in the Ashanti region.
His dream is to expand his company into a biotech company with specialized areas of research, diagnostics and manufacturing; while impacting on the lives of young people through an expanded mentorship scheme to include skills development for SHS graduates.
